About the department and the job:
The clinic provides specialist healthcare in lung diseases. Both investigation and treatment. Catchment area has approx. 460,000 inhabitants and highly specialized care (most investigations) for the south-eastern healthcare region (approx. 1.1 million inhabitants)
The clinic currently has 13 specialists with varying degrees of clinical service and 6 resident doctors. Doctors will also come to the clinic on duty from the south-eastern healthcare region for several months, as well as from some clinics at the hospital.
The operation consists of an investigation unit where bronchoscopies, EBUS are performed, some pulmonologists themselves perform CT-guided punctures, drain insertions. The reception has its own chest X-ray. All pulmonary oncology treatment except for surgery and radiotherapy is managed via the clinic. Weekly conferences with radiotherapy doctor and thoracic surgeon.
Drug studies in pulmonary oncology are common. Adult patients with cystic fibrosis are treated here. Lung transplant patients in the region go for check-ups at the clinic and are treated in consultation with the transplant center in Sweden. Then there is a general lung clinic for patients with COPD, pulmonary fibrosis, saccharoidosis and other lung conditions. Oxygen therapy and home ventilator therapy units are also available at the clinic. However, we do not treat asthma, but this is primarily done via the "Allergy Centre", which is a special unit.
